Mother’s Day flowers for everyone

Your Mum will love our floral design ideas

Mother’s Day is revered around the world as a day to celebrate Mothers of the family – be they our real Mum’s, mums-in-law or even just a Mother-figure. It’s a wonderful day meant to highlight the importance of mums, mums-to-be and everything that goes along with being one – including putting up with the entire family’s nonsense. In Australia, we celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May every year, which in 2018 falls on the 13th of May. Gift ideas abound in the lead-up to this special day, but the traditional idea of flowers always remains a guaranteed winner. At Best Beds Floral Design, we love putting together bouquets for special Mums and make sure we put extra special care and love into each one. Over the years, we’ve learned a few tricks to help our clients turn their traditional flower bouquets into something really spectacular for their Mums on Mother’s Day. We’ll share a few of these tricks with you today.

Choose a florist who is willing to personalise

At Best Buds, we will work with you to personalise your bouquet to your Mums exact tastes. A great florist will spend time with you asking about your Mum’s preferences and personality and get a good sense of ‘who she is’ before embarking on her bespoke design.

Make the flower arrangement a part of something special

The gift of a floral bouquet is often gift enough, but sometimes having bouquets or arrangements made to go hand-in-hand with a special event can be even more impactful. We always like to suggest creating a bouquet that will enhance the beauty of an event like a breakfast or high-tea. Depending on what you’re planning, the right bouquet or floral design can make your event completely stand out above the rest. Here are some ideas:

  • Breakfast – for a special breakfast opt for flowers that are light and welcoming like a posy of Baby’s Breath or perhaps a head or two of a large bloom for impact and colour. If you are serving Mum breakfast in bed, why not opt for a single, beautiful rose?
  • Brunch – when it comes to brunch, match the bright colours of the food being served (like fruits, berries, and eggs and bacon) with colourful flowers too. Maybe opt for happy sunflowers or even brightly coloured tulips.
  • Lunch – whether you’re organising a formal sit-down lunch or rather a BBQ at home choose an easy, sophisticated bouquet for Mum’s lunch with a splash of traditional daisies, gerbera daisies, Lisianthus or even Oriental Lilies perhaps.
  • Afternoon tea – whether you’re planning a formal high-tea or a garden tea party, choosing light, subtle tones of pinks, purples and blues will enhance any tea-time gathering.

Don’t forget to personalise your posy

Always add a personalised note, letter or poem to any bouquet or floral design for your Mum. Let her know how important she is in your life and how much she means to you. Make sure to thank her for everything she has done for you too.
